How to Survive Valentine’s Day After a Breakup

We’ve all been there - fresh out of a relationship when Valentine’s Day rears its rosy head to remind you just how single you are. Whether you did the breaking up or were the one broken up with, Valentine's Day can feel like salt in the wound.

It's completely normal to feel sad, frustrated, or lonely around this holiday meant for couples. But with some self-care and distractions, you can get through Valentine’s Day with your heart intact. Here are some tips:

Pamper Yourself

Now is the time to give yourself some major TLC! Plan a spa day complete with a massage, facial, mani/pedi, or just relax in a bubble bath at home. Light candles, sip wine, and unwind. You deserve to be pampered!

Have a Galentine’s Day

Spending V-Day with your closest girlfriends can be just what you need. Have everyone get together for a Galentine’s celebration full of your favorite activities - movie marathons, crafting, baking, etc. Remind each other that you don’t need romance to have an amazing day.

Do Some Retail Therapy

Go ahead and buy that thing you’ve been eyeing or even just browse the shops to get your mind off the sadder parts of Valentine’s Day. Shop for yourself - not anyone else!

Make Plans Away from Home

Book a getaway at a nearby hotel, visit museums or attractions you’ve been meaning to check out, or sign up for an exercise class. Being out doing activities you enjoy keeps your mind occupied.

Create an Anti-Valentine’s Day Playlist

Make a breakup recovery playlist with all your favorite empowering, upbeat songs. Turn up the music and belt out the lyrics to help lift your spirits!

Treat Yo’self to a Fancy Dinner

Forget candlelit meals for two - now it's time for a solo dinner date with you! Dine at that nice restaurant you've been wanting to try and order all your favorite foods and wine.

Valentine’s Day can be hard after a split, but showing yourself love and kindness will help you heal. You’ve got this!
